About Us

The Gay Freedom Band of Los Angeles is a mission-driven non-profit musical ensemble committed to promoting acceptance and celebrating diversity. We bring together musicians from across Southern California for performance and educational opportunities that embrace equality, inclusion, and the love of music. Our ensemble tours locally, performing at venues within a 50-mile radius of our rehearsal space.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and organized Truck Driver to support our ensemble’s logistical needs during performances. This role is essential to the success of our performances, ensuring that musical equipment is safely and efficiently transported to and from venues. The Truck Driver will work closely with the Director of OperationsArtistic Director, and Percussion Section Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload musical equipment (up to 75 pounds), including music stands, stand racks, percussion instruments, marching equipment, uniforms and amplifiers.
  • Coordinate and lead a volunteer crew for load-in and load-out at performance venues.
  • Reserve and manage rental trucks for scheduled events.
  • Ensure timely and safe delivery of equipment to venues and back to the rehearsal and storage locations.
  • Communicate effectively with ensemble leadership to align on logistics and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Experience with truck rentals and basic logistics preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting the performing arts and working with a diverse, inclusive team.
