GFBLA Artistic Staff

Music Techs serve as artistic assistants to the Concert Band directors, supporting both musical excellence and member development.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with Concert Band directors to identify musical and technical needs by instrument, section, or family (i.e. Bb clarinet, clarinets,  or woodwinds)
  • Lead sectionals and small-group rehearsals
  • Assist members with learning, refining, or adapting ensemble music
  • Meet one-on-one with members for individualized support
  • Provide general musical and technical guidance across the ensemble
  • Meet with Artistic Staff to discuss ensemble music goals
Qualifications/Skills

  • This position requires an audition with the Artistic Director
  • Members may audition for a specific instrument or for an instrument family
  • Audition should include a demonstration of personal musical proficiency and general music knowledge as well as instrument-specific technique and pedagogy
  • GFBLA Members with backgrounds in music performance, music education, or related fields are strongly encouraged to audition
  • Members can provide their own music/materials for the audition and are encouraged to use current ensemble music
  • You must be a dues-paying member of the GFBLA Concert Band
